What is the difference between thermal transfer and direct thermal labels?
There are two types of printing methods used by barcode printers: thermal and direct thermal. Thermal printing utilises a thermal ribbon to transfer print onto a label. This method is the most durable, producing long-lasting images on a wide range of surfaces. On the other hand, direct thermal printing does not require a ribbon; instead, it creates the image directly on the printed material. However, this method has a lifespan of no more than a year and is prone to degradation from light, heat, and abrasion.
